After being selected fifth overall in the last draft, David Reinbacher experienced a season full of ups and downs in Switzerland with HC Kloten. Indeed, his team had a miserable year, finishing 13th in the league and even having to change head coaches three times.

This situation is clearly not ideal for the development of the young man who, despite having a very promising potential, struggled to repeat his performances from the previous season. Given the numerous problems of his team, many fans are eager for him to make the jump to North America to continue progressing within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Moreover, given that HC Kloten finished second to last in the overall standings, Stefan Mair's team might be forced to play a relegation series, which would surely delay his arrival with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge.

Are the stars aligned for Reinbacher to arrive in Montreal as early as next week?

However, a frankly interesting turn of events has occurred over the last few days. Indeed, the GCK Lions are currently causing a surprise, with the series tied 3 to 3 against the Olten team. If the GCK Lions win game number 7, which will be played Friday night, HC Kloten would no longer be at risk of relegation, which would mean that Reinbacher could join the Canadiens as early as Friday.
We continue to follow Olten's team in the Swiss second division. If it is eliminated against the GCK Lions (the series is tied 3-3), a relegation series between Kloten and Ajoie in League A will not take place. The 7th game of this series will take place on Friday. This should lead to the rapid arrival of David Reinbacher in North America." - Anthony Marcotte

Wow! Everything suggests that the young 19-year-old Austrian defenseman could make his debut in North America, whether with the Montreal Canadiens or the Laval Rocket, as early as next week.
Such a scenario would greatly please fans, who are eager to see the young man in action. There's no doubt that the addition of the 6-foot-3, 210-pound defenseman would bring invaluable reinforcement to Jean-François Houle's lineup in the race for the playoffs.
This will be a situation to closely watch in the coming days, but there's a real possibility that David Reinbacher has already played his last game in Europe and is about to make his debut in the professional ranks.
What great news, both for the organization and for Montreal fans!
