The St. Louis Blues have been very active in a short span of time. They have completed two trades to acquire two forwards, including one from Quebec.
Firstly, the Blues acquired former first-round pick Radek Faksa from the Dallas Stars. He needed a fresh start after being behind several talented forwards in Dallas.
Subsequently, the Blues acquired Quebecois Mathieu Joseph from the Ottawa Senators. Despite scoring 35 points last season, he appeared to no longer fit into the Sens' plans.
They even gave up a third-round pick for the Blues to take Joseph. Nevertheless, the Quebecois forward is valuable to an NHL team in a top-nine role.
What makes these trades even more unusual is that, for now, the Blues have not traded anything tangible, as both deals involve future considerations with both the Stars and the Senators.
