Filip Mesar is making headlines again, for all the wrong reasons. After making bizarre statements about his last season in the OHL, he is absent from the Canadiens' current development camp.
The Canadiens' second selection in the first round of the 2022 draft seems to be stagnating in his development. He had a decent but unremarkable season with the Kitchener Rangers.
Many fans would have liked to see him on the ice with the organization's other prospects this week. With Michael Hage and Owen Beck making their professional debuts this year, there are questions about Mesar's place in the Canadiens' offensive lineup in the coming years.
Furthermore, his comments about his Rangers teammates in the OHL suggest he may not have the best attitude:
"When I was trying to create something, my teammates were a bit late to the party, and it frustrated me slightly, but I had to get over it."
It remains to be seen how the Canadiens will address Filip Mesar's development, especially with his absence from the organization's development camp this week.
