The Montreal Canadiens are placing significant emphasis on recruitment and development, especially since the arrival of Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes.

Marc-Antoine Godin reports that the Canadiens have recently hired a former NHL player to oversee the development of their prospects in Europe.

Lauri Korpikoski played 609 games in the NHL after being a first-round pick by the Rangers in 2004. He was playing in Finland until recently, and Korpikoski will be tasked with monitoring, advising, and advancing the Canadiens' prospects in Europe.
