TRADE ALERT: Chris Tanev Has Been Traded and Everything Has Changed for David Savard

Finally, there has been a first transaction in the NHL since the trade of Sean Monahan to Winnipeg. We have just learned that the Flames' defenseman Chris Tanev has been traded to the Stars.

Dallas had a pressing need to make an addition on defense and they traded a second-round pick, a prospect, and a conditional pick to Calgary in return.

Although we love David Savard, with the trade deadline approaching, his name is starting to circulate a lot throughout the league.

The departure of Tanev has outright activated the potential market even more for the services of the Quebec defenseman. It will be interesting to see if Kent Hughes will receive an irresistible offer for his player by next March 8th.
