Insider Confirms Kent Hughes is Taking Calls on At Least One Key Player
The three-goalie situation in Montreal has been a hot topic since the start of the season. However, now that the trade deadline is quickly approaching, Kent Hughes is more active than ever, determined to resolve this particular issue.
Indeed, as Charles-Alexis Brisebois highlights, the General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens is working very hard at the moment to find a new team for the 33-year-old veteran, Jake Allen.

In fact, according to information reported by Frank Seravalli, Kent Hughes has contacted numerous general managers to understand the market for his goaltender.
The president of Daily Faceoff would also have mentioned that the Montreal management made a call in this regard today, indicating that a transaction involving number 34 is currently being discussed.
Clearly, there's a lot happening behind the scenes, and it seems likely that Jake Allen's days in Montreal could indeed be numbered.
However, Elliotte Friedman reiterated on Sunday afternoon that the Canadiens have set a price for their goaltender, and that Kent Hughes will not trade him until another team is ready to meet his demands.
According to rumors, the price would be a relatively high draft pick, especially if the Canadiens agree to take on a certain portion of his $3.85 million contract valid until 2025.
Knowing that several teams are looking to improve their goaltending situation, it will be interesting to see if a team like the New Jersey Devils or the Edmonton Oilers will be willing to pay the price set by Kent Hughes to add an experienced goaltender like Jake Allen to their lineup.
For sure, this will be a case to watch until next March 8th!
