In his role as the General Manager of the Laval Rocket, Kent Hughes addressed a significant gap in the team led by Jean-François Houle recently.

Indeed, while the duo of Jakub Dobes and Strauss Mann was facing several difficulties in goal, Hughes signed Finnish goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to try to turn things around.
Even though he had only played two games in the NHL previously, Kasimir Kaskisuo had primarily played in the AHL during his stay in North America. He was therefore very familiar with the level of play before joining the Rocket last December.
At that time, the CH's farm team was among the worst teams in the American League. However, since the arrival of the 30-year-old veteran, Jean-François Houle's men have posted a record of twelve wins, seven losses, and one overtime defeat.
Moreover, number 73 is not foreign to the team's recent success, compiling a record of 5-0-0, while recording a goals-against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of .932. As we could see against the Marlies on Saturday, the goalie is truly dominant in front of his net.
He has an impeccable attitude, always remaining calm in front of his net. Moreover, his movements are very quick, but most importantly, very precise. He is rarely out of position, seeming constantly to be in the best possible place to face opposing shots.
Certainly, this acquisition has completely changed the season for the Laval Rocket. The CH's farm team is currently fighting for a playoff spot, and a large part of this situation is attributable to the sparkling performances of Kasimir Kaskisuo.
With a PTO for the 2023-2024 campaign, it will be interesting to see if Kent Hughes will offer him a two-way contract for the next year.
