The Canadiens are often mentioned as a team interested in his services. It was learned this week that Kent Hughes did indeed have an interest in Martin Necas, according to Pierre LeBrun.
Former Canadiens goaltending coach Stéphane Waite is ready to make a big move to bring the young winger to Montreal.
According to Waite, Necas fits perfectly with what the Canadiens are looking for. Waite would be willing to offer a first-round pick along with a promising young defenseman. Which one? He has no problem letting go of David Reinbacher, Lane Hutson, or Logan Mailloux.
