Martin Necas of the Hurricanes has been the subject of trade rumors since his team's elimination. The forward seems destined to change teams soon.
The Canadiens are often mentioned as a team interested in his services. It was learned this week that Kent Hughes did indeed have an interest in Martin Necas, according to Pierre LeBrun.
Former Canadiens goaltending coach Stéphane Waite is ready to make a big move to bring the young winger to Montreal.
According to Waite, Necas fits perfectly with what the Canadiens are looking for. Waite would be willing to offer a first-round pick along with a promising young defenseman. Which one? He has no problem letting go of David Reinbacher, Lane Hutson, or Logan Mailloux.
Basically, he's the one the Hurricanes would want. That's a lot, isn't it?
"At some point, if you want a team, you have to pay... We have plenty of defensemen..." - Stéphane Waite on 98.5 Sports
Host Mario Langlois felt it was too much to pay for such a transaction. He was against the idea of trading for a player who hadn't yet proven himself as a top-six player for the Hurricanes at 25 years old.
