Marc Bergevin was hoping to become the general manager of the Jackets, but he once again bites the dust. Don Waddell is the new man in charge in Columbus.
The experienced hockey executive had just left the Carolina Hurricanes to join the Blue Jackets. His role was still not confirmed.
Don Waddell will now be the president of hockey operations, as well as the general manager. This means that Marc Bergevin will not yet get his second chance as a GM in the NHL.
His name had been linked to the Blue Jackets since the beginning of their search process for a future general manager. Bergevin is still employed by the Los Angeles Kings, but he eagerly awaits a second opportunity to lead an NHL organization.
The former Canadiens executive will have to wait a little longer...
