The availability of Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks, particularly following the addition of Cutter Gauthier to their organization, has sparked numerous trade rumors, with many speculating a potential move to Montreal.

Darren Dreger, a well-known insider from TSN, recently made a statement that has stirred up quite a bit of discussion.
Dreger linked the Canadiens to Zegras in a potential trade and suggested a surprising player involvement:
"Hey, maybe he (Joel Armia) is involved as a complementary player for the Ducks when Kent Hughes gets Trevor Zegras to play with Cole Caufield."

- Darren Dreger

This statement, coming from a highly connected individual in the league, raises the possibility of Joel Armia being part of a significant trade to bring Zegras to Montreal. Such a move would not only bring a top-6 player to Montreal but also potentially clear Armia's substantial $3.4 million contract.
Acquiring a young talent like Zegras would likely come at a high cost. It's doubtful that Kent Hughes would be willing to include a promising young defenseman like Kaiden Guhle, Lane Hutson, David Reinbacher, or Logan Mailloux in the deal.
This situation is definitely one to watch, as it aligns with the kind of "Kirby Dach" trade Hughes expressed interest in during his mid-season press conference.
