David Pagnotta, a well-respected source, recently shared some intriguing news about the trade market, focusing on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

According to him, the Florida-based team is one to watch for another significant move by General Manager Julien BriseBois, continuing a trend from previous years.
Following acquisitions like Tanner Jeannot in 2023, Brandon Hagel in 2022, David Savard in 2021, and both Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow in 2020, it seems likely the Lightning will make another major trade to boost their depth. Pagnotta indicated that the team is looking to add a defenseman.
Salary cap management has significantly impacted the team's defensive lineup, making it a weak spot.
BriseBois is aware of this and aims to acquire a key player to strengthen his team for the playoffs.
The Lightning, known for their willingness to pay a premium for strategic additions, might look at the Montreal Canadiens and their surplus of defensemen to fill a crucial gap.
BriseBois prefers players with more than one season left on their contracts that are financially favorable, and Kent Hughes has three such players who could meet this need: David Savard, Jordan Harris, and Johnathan Kovacevic.
The Canadiens' GM has a great business opportunity to leverage the value of one of his defensive assets, and it's clear that the Lightning will be a team to watch in the coming weeks on the trade market.
