Crushing Turnaround for Pierre-Luc Dubois in LA

Pierre-Luc Dubois has had a surprising journey with his new team, following a trade and a big contract deal.
The 25-year-old from Quebec, a standout in last summer's trade discussions, seems to be falling out of favor with the Los Angeles Kings.
On his podcast, respected commentator Martin McGuire, known for his Canadiens game coverage, mentioned that the Kings' leadership is unhappy with Dubois' performance.
"They are not satisfied with Pierre-Luc Dubois. [...] It's unclear if he's relying too much on Danault and Kopitar. Maybe that's why he doesn't feel the pressure. He's secure with his contract. But he's not living up to what we paid. We understood why [Rob Blake] wanted Dubois. It was a costly move, and it doesn't look good when the team you traded with gets a player like Vilardi." - Martin McGuire
Initially, things weren't so dire as the Kings were still winning games, but since the start of the year, their performance has drastically fallen.
They faced 12 defeats in January, managing only three wins. For a team aiming for the top, this is far from acceptable.
Head coach Todd McLellan has been let go recently.
Whether McLellan's coaching affected Dubois' performance is uncertain, but a new coach might offer him a fresh start.
In 48 games this season, PLD has only managed 10 goals and 20 points, a disappointing tally for someone who just signed an eight-year contract with an annual $8.5 million salary.
It's noted that the Canadiens were once keen on acquiring him last June. Looking back, Kent Hughes might have avoided a significant issue by not pursuing Dubois.
