We have learned that Kent Hughes has just reached an agreement with forward Brandon Gignac.
The 26-year-old Quebecer has finally secured a real NHL contract, thus allowing him to finally get a real trial with the Canadiens by the end of the season.
It's worth noting that he was playing with the Laval Rocket and only had an AHL contract, which did not allow for a call-up to Montreal.
In 43 games this year, he has scored 14 goals and amassed 42 points. He is also the 6th top scorer in the American Hockey League.
He is fully deserving of a real opportunity with the Canadiens, even if his departure would also represent a significant loss for the Rocket team.
