Jake Allen Finally On His Way Out of Montreal? A Major Revelation Has Emerged
Over the past few weeks, the goaltenders of the Montreal Canadiens have been at the center of numerous trade rumors, especially since Samuel Montembeault signed a three-season contract extension with the organization.
This announcement has provided some answers to Montreal fans, confirming that either Jake Allen or Cayden Primeau is likely to be traded soon. Many are eagerly waiting for Canadiens' general manager Kent Hughes to finally resolve this long-standing issue.
Notably, according to information reported by Elliotte Friedman, the Edmonton Oilers might be the team most interested in acquiring a goaltender from the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge. A new development occurred during Sunday night's game against the Nashville Predators, as there was a significant presence at the Bell Centre.
As reported by Arpon Basu from The Athletic, Edmonton Oilers' Assistant General Manager Brad Holland was present to observe the 33-year-old veteran in action. It's also worth mentioning that the Oilers' goaltending scout had visited the Bell Centre when Jake Allen was in net for the Canadiens at the end of November.

As the saying goes, where there's smoke, there's fire!
Fortunately, despite the loss, Jake Allen performed well, stopping 30 of the 32 shots directed at him. It's hoped that Brad Holland appreciated Allen's performance, as he could potentially become a member of the Edmonton Oilers by the NHL trade deadline.
Certainly, a goaltender with Jake Allen's experience would greatly benefit the Alberta team, which currently relies on a tandem of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard, who have a combined total of only 202 NHL games.
Given Jake Allen's recent struggles, Kent Hughes may have to settle for a less attractive return than some fans hoped for. However, such a trade would allow Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau to continue their development with more playing time. Moreover, the Canadiens would make significant savings by offloading Jake Allen's salary, which is $3.85 million until the 2024-2025 season.
This will be a situation to watch closely in the coming weeks.
