Close Friend of Cole Caufield on His Way to Montreal Via Trade?

They have demoted their number one goaltender, Jack Campbell, to the minors, due to his abysmal performance since the season's beginning.

Yet, the team hasn't found relief as their second goaltender, Stuart Skinner, is also failing to deliver.

According to league backstage whispers, Ken Holland is active, and it wouldn't be surprising if a significant move happened soon in Edmonton.

As recently as this summer, Jake Allen's name was mentioned in connection with the Oilers. The organization had seriously attempted to acquire the 33-year-old veteran, but without success.

Given the trio of goaltenders in Montreal, Kent Hughes is not to be discounted for a potential trade. A name that could be used as bait to interest the GM of the Canadiens is that of Dylan Holloway, a former teammate of Cole Caufield at the University of Wisconsin.

This first-round pick of 2020, now 22, currently has no chance of carving out his spot with the Oilers. This offensive forward is being used on a fourth line, which is far from optimal for the development of a young player of his caliber.

In 11 games to date, he has not registered a point. This is unsurprising since he is only playing 11 minutes per game this season. It does nothing to help restore the young man's confidence.

It seems like exactly the kind of trade that could pay off handsomely for the organization. Hughes loves "buy low sell high" moves, and acquiring Holloway fits squarely into that category.

If the GM of the CH can leverage Allen's value into a promising attacker, standing 6 feet 1 inch and over 200 pounds, with the potential to become a 40-plus point scorer, I say yes.
