Since Martin St-Louis became head coach of the Montreal Canadiens in February 2022, 26 NHL teams have changed coaches.
For the upcoming season, eight teams will have a new coach.
TVA Sports has identified five coaches under pressure:
1. John Tortorella (Philadelphia Flyers): Despite a strong start last season, results have declined, particularly due to the management of Sean Couturier. Another poor performance could cost him his job.
2. Derek Lalonde (Detroit Red Wings): After narrowly missing the playoffs despite veteran additions, Lalonde needs to deliver results this season to secure his position.
3. Mike Sullivan (Pittsburgh Penguins): With an aging team and uncertain prospects, the Penguins might soon face a coaching change.
4. Travis Green (Ottawa Senators): Recently hired, Green must quickly turn the team around to meet high expectations.
5. André Tourigny (Utah): As the new coach of the Utah team following the Coyotes' relocation, Tourigny must impress the new owners and meet high expectations.
The situation of these coaches will be closely monitored at the start of the season.
