The Canadiens have found Martin St-Louis' replacement
The Montreal Canadiens have recently appointed Pascal Vincent as the new head coach of their farm team, the Laval Rocket.
This appointment is crucial for the development of young players, but also for another important reason.
Vincent could potentially succeed Martin St-Louis if the latter were to leave his position as head coach of the Canadiens.
According to journalist Stu Cowan, hiring Vincent serves as an insurance policy for St-Louis.
Currently, St-Louis is one of the longest-serving head coaches in the NHL and is expected to remain in the position for a long time. However, if an unforeseen situation were to arise, Vincent would be ready to replace him.
This strategy is reminiscent of the acquisition of Jake Allen when Carey Price was the starting goaltender for the Canadiens. Allen was not there to replace Price, but to ensure stability if needed.
Pascal Vincent will play a key role with the Rocket and the Canadiens' young prospects.
