Speculation about the imminent relocation of the Coyotes has been exploding for a few hours, and the team's head coach, André Tourigny, just made a huge revelation about the situation.
Several experts have reported since yesterday that discussions had been initiated with the National Hockey League about a potential sale and the franchise's departure to Salt Lake City.
The situation is so serious that the NHL is even preparing two schedules for the next season, with one format where the team remains in Arizona, and the other including a move.
As you can imagine, this issue is currently making a lot of noise, and the Coyotes players are the main ones affected by this saga.
It is difficult to avoid these distractions, and head coach André Tourigny just made a big revelation about the situation internally in his locker room.
«We have already experienced this before. The first rumors about Salt Lake City, I could tell you exactly the day - it was January 23 - because we had just secured four wins in five games. Then, we went on a streak of 14 losses.» - André Tourigny
The Quebec coach thus reveals for the first time that the start of the Coyotes' relocation rumors was the trigger for a very dark period of 14 consecutive losses.
This situation possibly cost a battle in the playoffs race, while Tourigny's team had an excellent record of 23-19-3 before this abominable sequence.
The coach outright reveals that the group did not manage the situation well last January, during the first rumors.
«We did not manage these distractions very well the first time.» - André Tourigny
One thing is for sure, for the team's sake, we strongly hope that this situation will be resolved by next season, whether by a relocation or the purchase of land for a new arena in Arizona.
