Another major controversy at Quebec Hockey affecting the Montreal region

Another scandal has erupted within Hockey Quebec. The organization overseeing minor hockey in Quebec is once again in the public eye for the wrong reasons.

The leaders of the Montreal-based structure, Hockey Quebec Région Montréal (HQRM), have been dismissed and are required to leave their positions immediately for specific reasons:

The board of directors of Hockey Quebec has resolved to expel the administrators of Hockey Quebec Région Montréal (HQRM) as members of Hockey Quebec, effective immediately.

Yesterday, the City of Montreal informed Hockey Quebec of a breach of trust between HQRM administrators and municipal authorities, as well as a recommendation to terminate the contribution agreement between the two parties.

This decision was made in accordance with Article 2.5.1 of Hockey Quebec's General Regulations, which empowers the board to expel or suspend any member whose conduct is deemed detrimental to the interests or reputation of the federation.

Given the potential for legal action regarding this matter, Hockey Quebec will not provide any further comments on the decision or its reasons.

It's worth noting that Hockey Quebec President Jocelyn Thibault left the organization a few months ago after realizing he could not shake things up.

Veteran Radio-Canada journalist Martin Leclerc also weighed in on this disastrous situation for Hockey Quebec:

«A sad first in the history of Quebec minor hockey: Hockey Quebec expels the administrators of Hockey Quebec Région Montréal from the federation following an investigation by the City of Montreal's Controller.»
