As you know, Montreal Canadiens prospect Emil Heineman played his first game in the NHL last night. Despite high expectations from fans, the Swedish forward, acquired in the trade involving Tyler Toffoli, had a modest debut, playing only 5 minutes and 56 seconds.
However, the 22-year-old forward has already broken an NHL rule, resulting in a fine from Gary Bettman. Like Connor Bedard during his first time on the ice, Emil Heineman refused to wear his helmet during his first warm-up, receiving a fine of $2,500.
Because of this new rule that now requires all players to wear their helmets during warm-up, number 51 will have to pay a sum of $2,500. Honestly, although this regulation is primarily intended to protect players, it seems quite excessive that a rookie playing his first game in the NHL is subject to such a fine.
Certainly, we were treated to a very nice scene as Emil Heineman skated solo during the warm-up, a ritual now attributed to players making their NHL debuts.
