Over the last few weeks, several trade rumors involving the Montreal Canadiens have surfaced on social media. Indeed, numerous experts have suggested that a goaltender, either Jake Allen or Cayden Primeau, along with some veterans such as Sean Monahan, David Savard, and Tanner Pearson, might be traded soon.
However, according to information shared by David Pagnotta, the General Manager of the Canadiens, Kent Hughes, could surprise everyone by acquiring a new player before the trade deadline. He has heard that the CH is ready to absorb the salary of a player in the last year of his contract, with the aim of helping the organization in the long term.
Naturally, such a transaction would allow Kent Hughes to acquire a young prospect or a draft pick in return. Knowing that some teams are in a complicated salary situation, it wouldn't be surprising if several general managers want to get rid of a contract or two to acquire a key player before the start of the playoffs.
Certainly, Kirby Dach's injury opens new opportunities for the CH management. It will be very interesting to see if Kent Hughes plans to take advantage of this to add assets that will help the team in its rebuilding process.
