As you know, the young defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, Kaiden Guhle, was the victim of a violent check by Nikita Kucherov in the last game, even though number 21 had his back to the play.

Clearly dazed in the sequence, the Canadiens' defenseman remained on the ice for a few seconds before heading back to the locker room. While many hoped he could return to the game, the organization officially confirmed that his work night was unfortunately over, having suffered an upper body injury.
What's even more peculiar is that the Tampa Bay Lightning's star attacker, Nikita Kucherov, went unpunished on the play, despite clearly deserving a penalty for boarding. Moreover, despite the dangerous nature of his check, number 88 did not even have to explain his actions to the NHL's disciplinary committee, a decision that surely frustrated many fans.
However, for the moment, the most important thing is the young defenseman's health. In this regard, during his appearance on TVA Sports last night, Renaud Lavoie disclosed rather worrying information about the defenseman, indicating that it might be a concussion.
«It seems to be a concussion for Kaiden Guhle, I'm not saying that for sure, but it really looks like it.» - Renaud Lavoie

Knowing that he already suffered a concussion at the beginning of the season, we sincerely hope that the prognosis mentioned by the TVA Sports journalist is wrong. We know how serious the repercussions of such an injury can be, especially when it's not the first time.
Obviously, we'll have to wait for an official update from the organization before we can really know how the defenseman is currently doing, but let's just say the signs are not very encouraging at the moment.
Moreover, given that there are only seven games left in the season and that the Montreal Canadiens are officially eliminated from the playoff race, it would be wise to give him time to recover before sending him back into the fray. Martin St-Louis has nothing to gain by reintegrating the defenseman into his lineup, as it could potentially worsen his situation.
Certainly, we sincerely hope that the defenseman is doing well and that his injury is less severe than anticipated.
