Yesterday morning, the Montreal Canadiens announced sad news concerning the young 23-year-old defenseman, Arber Xhekaj.

Indeed, the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge's number 72 will have to undergo left shoulder surgery due to an injury that occurred during the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This situation will thus end his 2023-2024 season, as he will be unable to participate in the last game of the regular season, for the second consecutive year.
Fortunately, although such surgery usually requires four to eight months of rehabilitation, the organization is confident that the Sheriff will be able to return to play for the start of next season's training camp.
Having traveled to Colorado at the beginning of the week to determine the exact nature of his injury, the defenseman will likely remain in the United States to undergo his surgery soon.

New Information Regarding Xhekaj's Injury Comes to Light

Moreover, Eric Engels, the journalist assigned to cover the Montreal Canadiens for Sportsnet, shared an interesting piece of information about Arber Xhekaj. Indeed, just like last year, the defenseman will undergo his operation in Colorado with Dr. Peter Millett, who also took care of Cole Caufield and Josh Anderson for their recent injuries.
"It's a different shoulder this time, but the Montreal Canadiens have confirmed that Xhekaj will once again undergo his procedure in Vail, Colorado, with Dr. Peter Millett, who also operated on the shoulders of Caufield and Anderson." - Eric Engels

Knowing that Wifi's left shoulder held up this season, this is excellent news, and we hope that the defenseman will recover 100% during the off-season. The same is true for Cole Caufield and Josh Anderson, who, after their surgery, had no complications with their previous injury.
Arber Xhekaj is therefore in very good hands with Dr. Peter Millett, and everything suggests that he will be able to return to the incredible level of play he reached this season. Certainly, we wish him the best of luck during this difficult trial and are already looking forward to seeing him don the CH jersey again.
