A very concerning scene unfolded during yesterday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, where the young Juraj Slafkovsky suffered a violent collision, endangering his head.
In our view, Slaf could perhaps have better protected himself, but Stefan Noesen's gesture from the Canes was very suspect. He can clearly be seen raising his elbow to strike the head, which is illegal.
As a result, the 19-year-old Slovak player was forced to leave the ice and go to the locker room to follow the NHL's concussion protocol, thus missing the end of the game.
Naturally, there was great concern, given that the first overall pick in 2022 had recently shown an outstanding level of play.
However, excellent news has just come in: Slafkovsky ultimately suffered no serious injury and all tests came back without any problems. He should therefore be in the lineup for the last two games of the year during the weekend.
