Thomas Chabot rejects the Montreal market and the Canadiens organization
Thomas Chabot won't be making any friends in Montreal these days. The defenseman is caught up in trade rumors, but he has a no-trade clause attached to his contract.
The Quebec native has the right to list 10 teams he does not want to be traded to.
According to social media buzz, the Montreal Canadiens would be among those 10 teams.
In summary, Thomas Chabot wants nothing to do with being traded to Montreal and playing for the Canadiens.
The Senators might be tempted to trade him to capitalize on his trade value while overhauling the defense in Ottawa.
Even though this scenario is highly unlikely, it's evident that the Canadiens do not need new defensemen, which is quite revealing.
We've just heard Jonathan Marchessault state in an interview that Montreal's pressure made him think, and it was even a factor in his decision to agree with the Nashville Predators.
"I came once a year and thought it was okay. There's so much media and pressure. I also wondered if it was worth having my name in the newspaper every day or every other day. Either you're a king or you're a zero.
They are old enough to understand all this. At school, do they get bullied? These are things to consider, not just as a hockey player, but also as a father."
