Patrick Roy already fired by the New York Islanders?
Patrick Roy returned behind the bench of the New York Islanders on January 20, succeeding Lane Lambert.
After an eight-year absence from the NHL, he took charge of a team with a record of 19-15-11.
Under his leadership, the Islanders bounced back and managed to qualify for the playoffs, although they were eliminated in five games by the Hurricanes.
Despite this playoff return, Patrick Roy is among the coaches most likely to be fired according to The Athletic, with only 3.1% of analysts' votes in his favor.
To strengthen the team, General Manager Lou Lamoriello recruited Anthony Duclair, a former player under Roy at the Quebec Remparts, and Maxim Tsyplakov, a KHL forward.
The goal is to stabilize the Islanders' presence in the playoffs, a crucial responsibility for Roy to justify his place behind the team's bench.
