Mike Matheson, defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, received a disappointing ranking in JFresh's list of the top 80 NHL defensemen, coming in at 68th position.
Despite an impressive 2023-2024 season, where he finished as the 9th highest-scoring defenseman with 62 points in 82 games, Matheson did not convince the 2,896 voters.
The ranking has sparked reactions, especially because players like Brady Skjei, Matt Roy, and Sean Durzi are ranked much higher, while names like Rasmus Sandin and Simon Nemec, who have less to prove in the NHL, are also ahead of him.
