In preparation for the game against the Washington Capitals, the Montreal Canadiens players hit the ice at the Bell Centre to make some adjustments following their stinging 7-4 loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday.
However, two key players were absent. Indeed, the organization confirmed that Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield would not participate in the practice, as they were receiving treatments from the medical staff instead.
"Forwards Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki are not participating in today's practice (treatment day)." - Montreal Canadiens
Obviously, this is not catastrophic, but it is somewhat worrying, especially since the CH players had a day off yesterday.
Moreover, this is the second time this week that the captain of the Canadiens has missed a practice to receive treatments. Clearly, the number 14 of the Blue-White-Red must be bothered by a minor injury to miss two practices in the last five days.
Let's hope it's nothing too serious, but this will still be a situation to closely monitor during tonight's game.
Certainly, both forwards are crucial to the team's success, especially since they have been paired with Juraj Slafkovsky on the first unit. So, let's hope they will be able to remain healthy for the rest of the 2023-2024 campaign.
The duo currently leads the Canadiens in points. Nick Suzuki has scored 19 goals and 33 assists (52 points) in 54 games, notably on a 10-game streak with at least one point. As for Cole Caufield, number 22 has accumulated 19 goals and 26 assists (45 points) in 54 games.
