The trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche has ultimately brought more than expected.

In March 2022, Montreal traded Artturi Lehkonen for Justin Barron and a second-round pick in 2024.
Since then, Barron has struggled to establish himself in the NHL, accumulating 11 points in 32 games with the Laval Rocket in 2023-24.
Conversely, Lehkonen has become a key player for the Avalanche, recording 34 points in 45 games in 2023-24 and 51 points in 64 games the previous season. He also added 31 points in 37 playoff games.
Thanks to the acquired second-round pick, Montreal was able to select Michael Hage, a promising prospect.
"Technically, the trade is Barron and Hage for Lehkonen... I'd do it again anytime." - Trege Wilson, THW

Despite some criticism, this trade could prove advantageous in the long run for the Canadiens if Hage reaches his potential.
The outlook of this trade will evolve based on Hage's development.
