Colin White wasn't very impressive towards the end of last season with the Montreal Canadiens. Some questioned his presence in the lineup, as he had been claimed off waivers to fill a role on the 4th line. White's time with the Canadiens turned out to be quite brief. The former first-round pick has signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks organization, but it is only for their American Hockey League team. At 27, the former client of Kent Hughes finds himself in this position. Even with the Laval Rocket, there was no spot for him. The Sharks also aim to surround their young players with veterans, which is partly the reason for signing Colin White.
