Kirby Dach has played only 60 games in two seasons since joining the Montreal Canadiens.
He has been injured twice, with the most recent injury being more severe. The forward got hurt during the second game of the season and had to miss the remainder of the campaign.
Selected 3rd overall in 2019, Dach was acquired by Kent Hughes during the NHL draft in Montreal in 2022.
At that time, the Canadiens believed they had acquired a talented player who could be part of the top-6 offensive lineup. Kirby Dach has the talent to reach that level, but injuries seem to be holding him back.
Nevertheless, the organization is not overly concerned about the young 23-year-old player. Dach has also already played 212 NHL games despite his age.
Stu Cowan, a journalist for the ''Montreal Gazette'', downplays the expectations for Kirby Dach for the upcoming season.
However, he won't panic if Dach does not produce early in the campaign.
«If Kirby Dach can play 82 games this season, even if he gets 35-40 points, it's about staying healthy If he doesn't produce in the first 20 games and gets 5 or 6 points, I wouldn't panic.»
