Craig Berube became the 32nd head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

The official announcement was made in the late afternoon, shortly after Sheldon Keefe was dismissed following his team's elimination in the first round of the playoffs.
Berube, a Stanley Cup winner in 2019, was fired by the Blues last December after a difficult start to the season and a previous season without playoffs. Since then, he has been one of the most sought-after coaches.
Berube's name had already been circulating in Toronto since Bissonnette mentioned it on television.
Berube joins Toronto after six seasons with the Blues, with a record of 206-132-44 (.597). He was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award in 2019. At 58, he also coached the Philadelphia Flyers for two seasons (2013-14 to 2014-15).
Originally from Calahoo, Alberta, Berube played 17 seasons in the NHL with Philadelphia, Toronto, Calgary, Washington, and the New York Islanders.
In 1,054 games, he scored 61 goals, made 98 assists, and accumulated 3,149 penalty minutes.
