Acquisition of Vincent Desharnais by the Canadiens?
An analyst suggested that Vincent Desharnais could be paired with Arber Xhekaj, forming a formidable duo for their opponents.
In an analysis where he puts himself in the shoes of general manager Kent Hughes, Marc-Olivier Beaudoin proposes signing Desharnais as the third right-handed defenseman, provided he accepts a reasonable contract.
With the possibility of trading Savard at the deadline, Desharnais could take his place, allowing for a more serious evaluation of offers for Xhekaj in the short to medium term.
If things don't work out with Desharnais, Erik Johnson could fill the leadership void.
Alexandre Carrier is also considered, but he might be too costly.
A Desharnais-Xhekaj pairing could be as intimidating as the Zadorov-Myers pairing in Vancouver.
Desharnais, originally from Laval, played 78 games with the Oilers this season and would be a popular and affordable acquisition for the Montreal Canadiens.
