A major transaction has just been completed
Last night, the Carolina Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins finalized a trade.
The Hurricanes, eliminated from the playoffs after their loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday, can now complete this transaction.
At the trade deadline, the Penguins traded their forward Jake Guentzel to the Hurricanes in exchange for two conditional draft picks, three prospects, and Michael Bunting.
With the Hurricanes' season over, the details of the trade have been revealed by Capfriendly.
Unfortunately for the Penguins, they will lose one draft pick, and the other pick, which could have become a first-round pick, will remain a second-round pick.
Despite his strong performance in the playoffs with nine points in 11 games, Guentzel could not lead the Hurricanes to victory.
Now a free agent, his future will be one to watch.
