A bombshell revelation has just surfaced thanks to Elliotte Friedman: Pierre-Luc Dubois could have joined Montreal this week in a completely unexpected trade.

According to the renowned journalist from 32 Thoughts, the Canadiens were one of the two interested teams, although nothing has been officially confirmed by the league.

Friedman suggests that Montreal might have offered a player like Christian Dvorak in exchange, along with requesting salary retention on PLD's contract.

Ultimately, the Kings chose an offer from the Capitals that better met their criteria, without requiring salary retention on Dubois' massive seven-year contract.

If this transfer had gone through, it would undoubtedly have shaken the fans, despite Dubois' undeniable talents and Kent Hughes' ambitions to strengthen the team.
