This summer, the Montreal Canadiens are gearing up for major changes aimed at improving their roster and targeting a playoff spot next season.

General Manager Kent Hughes emphasized that this summer period would be crucial for the team, marking a significant step since his arrival in the organization.
It's evident that he will actively seek to strengthen the offense led by Martin St-Louis for the upcoming season. Among the names recently associated with the team are Martin Necas and Trevor Zegras, although the option of free agents is not ruled out. However, Hughes generally prefers trades over big contracts for players over 27 years old.
Martin McGuire confirmed that Hughes is very active in the trade market, in contact with several teams to complete transactions.
"This initiative is encouraging and shows the GM's commitment to improving the team," said McGuire.

It is crucial for the Canadiens to acquire a top-notch forward to boost their offense, which finished last season ranked 26th in the NHL in terms of goals scored.
