Currently at the Memorial Cup, Montreal Canadiens prospect Owen Beck has caught the attention of analyst Simon Boisvert during his podcast "Processus," which he co-hosts with Mathias Brunet from La Presse.

Brunet asked Boisvert, a former scout in the QMJHL, for his opinion on Beck. Let's just say he isn't very enthusiastic about the young future center for the Habs.
"Excellent defensively, that's for sure, and he's had a good offensive year, but you know, I've often said, at 19 in junior hockey, it's normal for a guy to produce. What's really surprising is the opposite. But, Owen Beck doesn't demonstrate, in my opinion, the offensive qualities necessary to be more than a defensive-type player in the NHL. Third line, I would be extremely surprised, the Canadiens would have to be very weak to have him as a third-line center, I see him more as a fourth-line center, who will need a year or two in Laval." - Simon Boisvert

Do Boisvert's comments surprise you? He also added that Beck lacks execution speed.
With stints in Peterborough and Saginaw in the OHL this season, Beck totaled 81 points in 57 games.
