The young defenseman will now try to earn his spot with the Montreal Canadiens at training camp and make his NHL debut.

However, on The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro, Pierre McGuire expressed doubts about Lane Hutson's game in the NHL.

According to him, Hutson might not have the defensive game necessary to immediately transition to the top league in the world. A stint with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League could be beneficial for his development.

«Lane Hutson brings a level of NHL skill to your team... but does he have the defensive game to play at the NHL level? Probably not.»

It will depend on what we see at camp and during the preseason games. However, the Canadiens are still in a rebuilding phase, so it might be preferable to develop young players in the NHL as well...
