The Edmonton Oilers are under pressure to respond to the hostile offers made to Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway by the St. Louis Blues.
According to Bruce Garrioch, two defensemen, Cody Ceci and Brett Kulak, have been identified as potential trade candidates to free up salary cap space.
Elliotte Friedman indicates that the Oilers have already chosen to keep Dylan Holloway, which means Philip Broberg might be sacrificed.
A transaction could involve a first or second-round pick to attract a club interested in Ceci or Kulak. Ceci earns $3.25 million per year until 2025, while Kulak, a former Montreal Canadiens player, earns $2.75 million per year until 2026.
A decision must be made by next Tuesday to avoid losing Broberg or Holloway to the Blues' offers.
