A long-time member of the Canadiens organization has decided to leave and join a new NHL team.
Reid Simpson has been a scout for the Canadiens for the past seven seasons, covering both professional and amateur scouting based in Western Canada.
He is said to have played a key role in the selection of Kaiden Guhle by the Canadiens in the first round of the 2020 draft.
Simpson is also a former NHL player. As a result, he was not hired by the new executives Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes.
While this departure might be somewhat surprising, given that Gorton and Hughes prefer to surround themselves with familiar and capable individuals, Reid Simpson has left the Canadiens to accept a more prominent position with another team in the NHL.
