Rumor: Blue Jackets GM announces an imminent trade

Laine has requested a trade, and general manager Don Waddell wants to fulfill this request before the season starts.

Waddell recently stated that he is finalizing a transaction, which has sparked speculation on social media.

'Eric is the brain,' said Waddell. 'He is much smarter than I could ever dream to be... I am convinced he will do an excellent job.

We are trying to conclude a trade at the moment, so...'

Laine, a 26-year-old winger, scored 52 points in 55 games in 2023 and is under contract until 2026, with an annual salary of $8.7 million.
