A recent development with the Columbus Blue Jackets could involve Patrik Laine and the Montreal Canadiens.

Laine has requested a trade, and general manager Don Waddell wants to fulfill this request before the season starts.
Kent Hughes and the Canadiens are looking for a top-tier forward, and Montreal is often mentioned among the finalist teams to acquire Laine, alongside the Ducks and Hurricanes.
Waddell recently stated that he is finalizing a transaction, which has sparked speculation on social media.

Laine, a 26-year-old winger, scored 52 points in 55 games in 2023 and is under contract until 2026, with an annual salary of $8.7 million.
