At a press conference after last night's game against the Buffalo Sabres, which showcased a very solid performance by Arber Xhekaj, certainly his best since being called up from Laval, Martin St-Louis answered a question that left a chill among the media regarding the defenseman.
When asked about his player's game, where the "Sheriff," as we've known him last year, seemed to be back, the head coach shared his thoughts on this nickname he clearly does not appreciate.
St-Louis does not like Xhekaj being called this way, possibly because it brings a certain reputation and expectations for him, which are not always necessary for every game.
However, the coach later added that he liked his game and that it was possibly his most complete performance with his style of play, in terms of robustness and an interesting offensive contribution.
Nonetheless, from now on, it's a safe bet that no journalist will dare to use the nickname "Sherif" for Xhekaj in front of St-Louis.
