Because he was already on the ice about 4 months after his surgery, some people began to get excited, believing in a possible turnaround involving number 77, to the effect that he might potentially return to play by the end of the season.
Exclusive on Dach's Injury
During his appearance on BPM Sports this morning, Renaud Lavoie completely dashed fans' hopes by revealing an exclusive on Dach's injury.
"Even though he skated yesterday, forget about the possibility of seeing Kirby Dach return to play by the end of the season. He cannot play in a competitive match before June, according to the requirements of the doctor who operated on him!" - BPM Sports
According to the TVA Sports journalist, the 23-year-old center cannot return to play for a solid eight months, which means he would not be able to compete again until June, at the earliest.
It's the doctor who performed Dach's surgery who demands teams to wait this minimum period, in order to maximize the chances of the operation's success.
Moreover, we learn that Christian Dvorak was also operated on by the same doctor, who is a leading authority in his field.
Although it would have been nice for fans to see Dach play a few games before the end of the activities, it would therefore be in his best interest to wait until next year before seeing him compete in a game again.
