In the last few hours, we've reported the major news that the Columbus Blue Jackets have fired their general manager, Jarmo Kekäläinen, after 11 years in the position.
As the well-known insider Darren Dreger raised the point following Kekäläinen's dismissal, the Canadiens could be in for an unpleasant surprise with their Vice President of Hockey Operations, Jeff Gorton.
Dreger highlighted that John Davidson, who will serve as interim general manager until a replacement is found, is familiar with Gorton. Given that the Canadiens' VP is a former GM, Dreger wonders if the position in Columbus might interest him.
The potential loss of Gorton would be a blow for the Canadiens, especially at this stage of the rebuild. The idea was to have a solid leadership at the helm of the club, and it would be unfortunate to lose one of its members only two years after their arrival.
