Just before the start of the playoffs, Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar shared some unfortunate news regarding former Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin. Drouin suffered a lower-body injury in the last game of the regular season, forcing him to miss the entire first round of the playoffs.
Fortunately, Drouin's absence didn't seem to affect the Avalanche's offense, as they scored 28 goals and eliminated the Winnipeg Jets in five games.
However, Drouin is expecting a prompt return. He hopes to rejoin Bednar's lineup toward the end of the second round or in the Western Conference final, should the Avalanche advance.
This outlook is excellent news for Drouin, who had a remarkable season alongside Nathan MacKinnon. His return could be beneficial for the Avalanche, who will face either the Dallas Stars or the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round.
