In their recent episode of the Basu & Godin Notebook podcast, journalists Arpon Basu from The Athletic and Marc-Antoine Godin from Radio-Canada Sports discussed a significant trade proposal aimed at bolstering Montreal's team with the addition of a star player.
They suggested that Kent Hughes, the general manager, would be reluctant to part with David Reinbacher, considered the team's most promising future defenseman. However, they floated the possibility that Logan Mailloux, a young right-handed defenseman, could potentially be available for a trade.
In addition to Mailloux, they proposed including power forward Josh Anderson in the deal. They believe that Anderson's departure, along with his hefty contract, could be an advantage for Hughes, while his playing style might appeal to the Anaheim Ducks' general manager.
To make the offer more enticing, they recommended including Montreal's second first-round pick in the 2024 draft, acquired from the Winnipeg Jets.
