Major announcement from Alex Barré-Boulet of the Montreal Canadiens and it's confirmed

At the event, he wore number 12, the same number he had with the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, his Canadiens-colored helmet revealed that he will choose number 27 for the upcoming season.

Hailing from Montmagny, Barré-Boulet becomes the 21st player in franchise history to wear this number, following defenseman Gustav Lindström from last season.

Notable previous wearers of this number include Frank Mahovlich, Shayne Corson, Alex Kovalev, and Jonathan Drouin, all known for their offensive skills.

At 27 years old, Barré-Boulet signed a one-year contract with the Canadiens on July 1st, valued at $775,000.

Last season, he scored six goals and recorded nine points in 36 games with the Lightning.
