Some Canadiens fans likely smiled seeing the former team player, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, face difficulties during the 2023-2024 season, and he didn't shy away from journalists' questions when confronted last Sunday.

During a series of end-of-season interviews organized by the Hurricanes, the Finn was rather succinct regarding his modest performances.
Often confined to the fourth line and benefiting from limited ice time, "KK" managed 12 goals and 15 assists for a total of 27 points in 79 games during the regular season.
The playoffs were even more disappointing, with only one assist in 11 games.
His inadequate production falls far short of justifying his eight-year, $38.56 million contract, which still has five years remaining.
"In general, it was crappy. The year has been very tough for me. [...] I could have done a lot better. I will try to forget it and focus on the next one. It will be business as usual, trying to work hard to come back stronger and be ready next year." - Jesperi Kotkaniemi
