In less than three weeks, the highly anticipated annual NHL draft will take place in Las Vegas.
The Montreal Canadiens, holding the 5th and 26th picks, aim to strengthen their pool of young talent.
Speculation is rife regarding their 5th pick, with indications that General Manager Kent Hughes may lean towards selecting a forward. Player agent and analyst David Ettedgui made a bold prediction on BPM Sports, stating that Russian forward Ivan Demidov will join Montreal.
"Listen up: Ivan Demidov will be drafted by the Canadiens. Anton Silayev's stock is skyrocketing, and the Ducks or the Blue Jackets may pick him. Otherwise, the Canadiens will step in to draft Demidov," said Ettedgui.
Despite usually ranking just behind Macklin Celebrini, Demidov could slip to the 5th spot if some teams opt for defensemen. With a strong preference for Demidov, the Canadiens are hopeful that this prediction will come true.
