Incredible moment for Juraj Slafkovsky following last night's game
Juraj Slafkovsky will long remember the match on April 9, 2024, against the Philadelphia Flyers, in which he scored the first hat trick of his young career with the Montreal Canadiens.
Indeed, the number 20 of the Habs had a perfect evening by lighting the red light three times. After a deflection and a magnificent shot on reception, the Slovak forward completed the work with a superb goal on a breakaway, deceiving the vigilance of Ivan Fedotov.
This match was further proof of the wonderful progress made by the giant forward this year. Following a rather difficult start to the season on the offensive front, his production has completely exploded since joining the first line composed of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.
Indeed, since the All-Star game break, Juraj Slafkovsky has recorded no less than 28 points, including 12 goals, in 29 games, which equates to a sensational pace of 79 points over a full season of 82 games.
Moreover, it's not just his offensive contribution that is impressive, but also the way he behaves on the ice. The forward now knows how to take advantage of his qualities to become a constant threat in the offensive territory, being able to generate numerous scoring opportunities.
A magical moment occurred live from the Bell Centre
Having earned the first star of the game, Juraj Slafkovsky spoke with journalist Marc Denis during the traditional post-game interview. However, a magical moment occurred live from the Bell Centre as the 20-year-old was unable to speak for about thirty seconds, receiving a huge ovation from the fans present.
A well-deserved dose of love for the forward of the Canadiens!
While sometimes the media pressure in Montreal is criticized by some players, we must not forget that the intensity and unconditional love of the fans lead to moments like this. This long acclamation is an incredible demonstration of the supporters' appreciation towards the very first overall pick in the 2022 draft.
See the sequence right here:
Juraj Slafkovsky has clearly proven that he has the capabilities to become a leading player in the NHL, and given his recent performances, his potential seems unlimited. Moreover, with his three goals last night, the forward brought his total to 19 goals and 29 assists (48 points) this season, dangerously approaching the 50-point mark.
Knowing that there are still four games left in the Canadiens' season, everything suggests that he will reach this important threshold, a frankly interesting feat for a player who had only 39 games of experience before the start of this campaign.
We thank Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton for his selection, even if it could seem somewhat controversial at the time. Clearly, the CH's management knew how high his potential was.
